Established on December 5, 1989, by a group of forward-thinking language schools, FELTOM has played a key role in shaping the industry for over 35 years.

In 2006, we launched the FELTOM accreditation Scheme, setting rigorous standards that have been upheld for over 18 years. This scheme ensures that accredited institutions meet and exceed expectations in:

2. Advocacy
Advocacy is at the heart of FELTOM’s mission. As one of our core pillars, we are dedicated to shaping legislation and regulations that protect and support our 14 member schools while driving the growth of the TEFL sector in Malta.
Recognized under the ELTC legislation (Legal Notice of 2015), FELTOM is the only official ELT association in Malta. We work closely with legislators, government bodies, foreign agents, and industry stakeholders to develop policies that enhance professionalism and strengthen the industry.
A key milestone in our advocacy efforts was our pivotal role in establishing the world’s first law regulating English language schools. This groundbreaking achievement underscores our commitment to ensuring high standards and positioning Malta as a leading dewtination for English language education.

Since its founding, FELTOM has been a leading advocate for Malta’s TEFL sector, working closely with legislators, government bodies, internacional agents, and key industry stakeholders to drive its growth and development.

FELTOM was instrumental in creating the world’s first law regulating English language schools. It remains the only officially recognised ELT association in Malta, as stated in the ELTC Legislation (Legal Notice 221 of 2015).
